Kakao Bank Attracts More than a Million Accounts in 5 Days

More than a million accounts have been created at Kakao Bank in the five days since the Internet-only bank launched its services.

The second Internet-only bank in South Korea said on Monday that over a million accounts have been opened as of 1 p.m., meaning nearly 10-thousand accounts were created per hour at the bank on average since its launch.

In terms of the number of accounts, it already took over K-Bank, the nation’s first Internet-only bank, which has attracted over 500-thousand accounts since its launch three months ago.

Kakao Bank said around 344 billion won, or 307-point-two million U.S. dollars, has been entrusted to it as of 1 p.m. Monday, while 323 billion won has been taken out in loans.

Around 690 billion won was entrusted to K-Bank, while 630 billion won was taken out from the bank.
