S. Korea's Q2 Chip Exports Hit All-time High

South Korea’s chip exports reached an all-time high in the second quarter.

According to the data provided by the Bank of Korea on Sunday, the country’s export volume index for the semiconductor sector came to 393-point-97 for the April-June period, up 20-point-two percent from a year earlier.

The latest figure represents an increase of two-point-seven percent from the previous quarter, marking record figures for the second straight quarter.

Industry experts are projecting a continued increase in the demand of chips amid the boom of the Internet of Things, big data and artificial intelligence industries.

The BOK predicted in its recent economic outlook report that the chip industry will lead the country’s exports for the time being.
