Kakao Bank Attracts over 180,000 Accounts in 12 Hours

The Internet-only Kakao Bank attracted over 180-thousand accounts in 12 hours after it launched services at 7 a.m. Thursday.
 
Kakao Bank, South Korea’s second Internet-only bank, said that as of 7 p.m. Thursday, a total of 187-thousand accounts had been opened.
 
K-Bank, the nation’s first Internet-only bank, attracted 100-thousand accounts three days after it launched serviced in April.
 
Last year, traditional banks opened about 155-thousand accounts via the Internet or smartphones.
 
Kakao Bank said that about 335-thousand users downloaded the mobile application in the first 12 hours. The bank drew 42-point-six billion won in deposits and savings accounts, while extending loans worth 14-point-five billion won.
