Bill Passes Allowing Ordinary Citizens to Purchase LPG RVs

A parliamentary committee has passed a bill that allows the general public to purchase recreational vehicles(RV) that are powered by liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) and can carry five people or less.

The National Assembly’s Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee on Wednesday passed the bill that seeks revisions to the LPG safe management and utility law.

The bill also allows multipurpose passenger cars and other types of passenger vehicles to be fueled by LPG.

The government has been discussing ways to ease regulations on the use of LPG-powered cars in a bid to expand the supply of LPG cars, with diesel cars being pinpointed as sources of fine dust. Rules on LPG-powered vehicles have remained unchanged for 35 years.

Under the current rules, the general public cannot buy LPG cars as their new car and only certain types of cars can be fueled by LPG such as taxis, rental cars and RVs that can carry seven people or more.
