S. Korea's Agricultural Exports to China Decline by 11% in 1st Half

Exports of South Korean agricultural products to China have significantly declined in the first half of the year amid China’s continuing economic retaliation over the U.S. THAAD antimissile system.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said on Wednesday that the country exported about 436 million U.S. dollars’ worth of agricultural products to China in the January-June period, down by eleven-point-four percent from the same period last year.

Agricultural exports to China maintained growth until March, rising seven-point-four percent from the same month last year, but began contracting in April, posting a negative growth for three months.

Accordingly, the growth of outbound shipments of South Korean agricultural products around the world also slowed from eleven-point-three percent in March to six-point-five percent last month.
