Hyundai Motor's Fifth Chinese Factory to Begin Production in Aug.

Hyundai Motor says it will begin operations of its fifth Chinese production assembly in Chongqing next month.

The South Korean automaker announced on Wednesday that the new factory will be able to produce 300-thousand cars every year, adding to its annual production in China for a total one-million-650-thousand cars.

It was launched with a special ceremony by Beijing Hyundai Motor Company, a joint venture between Hyundai Motor and China’s Beijing Automotive Group.

Hyundai plans to utilize the new assembly line located in southwest China to make inroads into the country's inland regions and sports-utility vehicle market.

It has three other Chinese factories in Beijing and one in Changzhou.
