Labor, Management to Resume Negotiation on 2018 Minimum Wage

The government’s Minimum Wage Commission is planning another general meeting of labor and business leaders Saturday to negotiate how much next year's minimum wage should be.

The tenth general meeting held on Wednesday produced no agreement.

Labor groups are demanding a nearly 48 percent wage increase to nine-thousand-570 won from the current six-thousand-470 won. Management prefers a three-point-one percent increase to six-thousand-670 won.

Both sides are bringing revised proposals to Saturday's meeting scheduled for 3 p.m. at the government complex in Sejong City.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor is required to inform the public of next year’s minimum wage by August fifth.
