Foreign Stock Ownership Tops 600 Tln Won

The total amount of foreign ownership of South Korean stocks hit a record 600 trillion won, or 528 million U.S. dollars, on the bullish market.
 
According to KOSCOM, the system manager of the South Korean bourse operator Korea Exchange on Wednesday, foreign investors held 602-point-six trillion won worth of South Korean stocks on Tuesday, or 34-point-04 percent of the total market capitalization.
 
The figure for Wednesday was estimated at 34-point-09 percent.
 
It is the first time that the figure surpassed 34 percent since June 20th in 2007, when it marked 34-point-08 percent.
 
The figure hit 39 percent in October 2005, but plunged to 25 percent in May 2009 amid the global financial crisis and has fluctuated since.
