The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) on Tuesday posted a new high after a sluggish eight days of trading.
KOSPI gained 13-point-90 points, or point-58 percent, from Monday to close the day at two-thousand-396. The figure is point-34 points higher than the previous high posted on June 29th.
The index surged to two-thousand-402-point-80 at one point during the day but stopped short of closing the day above the two-thousand-400 mark.
Meanwhile, the tech-heavy KOSDAQ fell, losing one-point-85 points or point-28 percent. It closed the day at 656-point-01.
On the foreign exchange market, the value of the local currency weakened one-point-six won against the dollar, closing at one-thousand-151-point-one won.
