The government will discount highway tolls for electric and hydrogen-powered cars, starting on September 18th.
 
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on Tuesday that relevant laws were revised for the cheaper tolls at a Cabinet meeting Tuesday.

In an effort to promote environment-friendly transportation and reduce carbon emission, the discount rate will be applied through 2020 until which the government will run promotional campaigns for electric cars. 
 
Hybrid vehicles run on gasoline and electricity will not benefit from the discount.
