S. Korea's Out-of-Wedlock Birth Rate Lowest among OECD Nations

South Korea’s out-of-wedlock birth rate is the lowest among the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD).

According to the Bank of Korea and the OECD on Sunday, the country’s rate of births outside marriages was at the bottom among the OECD economies at one-point-nine percent, lower than Japan’s two-point-three percent.

The OECD average figure was 39-point-nine percent in 2014. The comparable figures for Turkey, Israel and Greece were below ten percent.

The average number for the European Union reached 40-point-five percent, with France, Norway, Denmark and Sweden surpassing 50 percent.
