N. Korean Leader Pays Respects to Founder on Death Anniversary

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited Kumsusan Memorial Palace on Saturday, where the body of his grandfather and founder of the regime, Kim Il-sung, is placed, to mark the 23rd anniversary of his death in 1994.

Kim paid his respects to the founder in front of the statues of Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il, flanked by four key party and military officials who contributed to the recent successful launch of the Hwasong-14 ballistic missile.

Choe Ryong-hae and Hwang Pyong-so, who are known as the number 2 in the North Korean party and the military, each, stood at the end of the first line.

The North on Friday mobilized hundreds of thousands of North Korean residents and held a massive event in Pyongyang to hail defense scientists who participated in the development of the missile.
