Naver Releases Korean-English Dictionary for Foreigners

Naver has released a Korean-English dictionary Friday optimized for foreigners studying Korean.

While introducing the new web service, the South Korean search-engine portal operator said the dictionary will allow users to find root forms of verbs when they search various conjugations.

It also sports voice, photo and handwriting recognition functions, which will help foreigners who are not good at typing in Korean.

The dictionary also provides detailed information about the distinct expressions of the Korean language, such as the use of honorifics.

Naver previously released Korean-Chinese and Korean-Vietnamese dictionaries.

The portal plans to introduce Korean dictionaries in eight more foreign languages, including Spanish and Indonesian, as part of its efforts to promote the Korean language.
