Gov't Updates Official Jobs List for 1st Time in 10 Years

Mobile application programmer and robotics technician will become officially recognized jobs in South Korea.

Statistics Korea said on Monday that it has revised the Korean Standard Classification of Occupations(KSCO) for the first time in 10 years and will implement it starting next year.

Many jobs ushered in by technological advancements over the past decade will be included in the new classification, which serves as a legal basis for salary, social insurance and other institutional workplace benefits.

Meanwhile, the statistics agency has also changed many terms used to describe existing jobs made up of English words or a combination of English and Korean words into pure Korean words.
