Foreign Net Buying in H1 Largest since 2009

Foreign investors purchased an eight-year-record amount of Korean stocks in the first half of this year.

According to the Korea Exchange and Korea Securities Computing Corporation(KOSCOM) on Sunday, foreigners net purchased more than eleven trillion won worth of stocks either on the benchmark KOSPI or on the tech-heavy KOSDAQ.

The half yearly accumulated volume is the largest in eight years since the first half of 2009 when foreign investors began to return and snapped up over eleven trillion won worth of Korean stocks, following an exodus in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis.

Foreign investors favored LG Electronics the most in the first six months of this year, bagging 972 billion won worth of stocks.

KB Financial Group came in second, followed by Hyundai Motor, Samsung SDI and Hyundai Mobis.
