Nonregular Workers Managing Gov't Buildings to Become Regular Workers

The government plans to shift nonregular workers helping to manage government buildings into regular workers.

Interior Minister Kim Boo-kyum announced the plan on Friday during a luncheon meeting at the government complex in Sejong City with around ten contract employees in attendance, noting the government is putting priority on creating quality jobs in managing national affairs.

The nonregular workers present at the luncheon work for the Government Buildings Management Office and are assigned to various roles, including facility management, cleaning, gardening, security, elevator services and guide services for visitors.

There are two-thousand-839 nonregular workers at the Ministry of Interior, with around 85 percent working for the Government Buildings Management Office.
