The Korea International Trade Association(KITA) opened on Thursday a business support center to help domestic businesses gain greater access to the international halal product market.
Housed at the Trade Tower in southern Seoul, the center will provide business information and customized consulting services to South Korean small and mid-sized companies.
The halal market was valued at one-point-seven trillion U.S. dollars with one-point-seven billion consumers around the world as of 2014. The market is expected to rapidly grow to over two-point-seven trillion dollars by 2021.
KITA Vice Chairman Kim Jung-kwan said that with its growth potential and consumer base, the halal market is a new business opportunity South Korean exporters must take advantage of. He added that the support center will actively help domestic companies advance into halal markets.
