Survey: Middle Easterners are Biggest Spenders in S. Korea

A survey shows that Middle Eastern tourists are the biggest spenders in the South Korean tourism market.
 
According to the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute’s poll of some 12-thousand foreigners who visited South Korea last year, Middle Eastern tourists spent nearly two-thousand-600 U.S. dollars per person during their time in South Korea.
 
Expenditure by nearly 33 percent of Middle Eastern travelers ranged between three-thousand and nine-thousand-999 dollars. South Korean clothing was the most favored item by Middle Eastern tourists.
 
Chinese tourists came in second spending two-thousand-60 dollars per person. Perfume and cosmetics were Chinese shoppers’ favorites.
 
Tourists from Russia, Singapore and Hong Kong spent well over a thousand dollars per person.
 
Japanese tourists spent the least amount among those surveyed at some 814 dollars per person. Food was Japanese shoppers’ most favored purchase.
 
Foreign tourists spent an average of one-thousand-625 dollars per person last year, down over 87 percent from 2015.
