Firms to Decide on Performance-based Pay Rule

A plan to expand performance-based salary at public firms that was pushed by the Park Geun-hye administration has been practically scrapped under the new government.

The Finance Ministry on Friday held a meeting of a public agencies' management committee and approved follow-up measures related to the issue of performance-based pay at public organizations.

The committee removed an implementation deadline of the pay scheme and allowed individual firms to freely decide on how and when to introduce the plan according to their respective situations.

Public firms that have adopted performance-based wages based on labor-management agreement can also freely decide on whether to keep or change the plan.
