Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kim Dong-yeon will meet with his Indian counterpart, Arun Jaitley, later this week.
 
The Finance Ministry announced on Monday that the meeting will be held in Seoul on Wednesday.
 
The upcoming meeting is significant in that it is the first finance ministers' meeting with a major country since the launch of the Moon Jae-in government. The meeting is also the first of its kind to be held with India since January 2014.
 
After meeting with Kim, Jaitley will attend the annual meeting of the board of governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank which will open in Jeju on Friday.
