South Korea has opened a pavilion at the international Expo 2017 that kicked off in Astana, Kazakhstan on Saturday.
Around 100 dignitaries attended the opening ceremony of the Korea Pavilion on Sunday, including Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency(KOTRA) President Kim Jae-hong, South Korea’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kim Dae-sik, and the Minister of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan Zhenis Mahmudovich Kassymbek.
KOTRA explained that the one-thousand-804-square meter Korean Pavilion is the largest among the country pavilions built for the latest world expo.
Designed to promote South Korea’s environment-friendly energy technologies, the Korean Pavilion features solar power generation, hydrogen powered cars, and a Korean style microgrid power system among other things.
The Astana Expo is the first world expo held in the Commonwealth of Independent States(CIS), the regional bloc consisting of the former Soviet Union member states.
A total of 115 countries and 22 international organizations will participate in the expo until its closure on September ninth.
