Imports of Coffee Products Hit Record High in 2016

South Korea's imports of coffee products have set a new high.

The Korea Customs Service said Friday that inbound shipments of all coffee products, including raw beans, roasted coffee beans, instant coffee, coffee capsules and iced coffee cubes, reached 159-thousand tons last year, up ten-point-seven percent from the previous year.

The import amount was the largest since related data began to be compiled in 2000.

The trend continues as coffee imports jumped seven percent year-on-year to 40-thousand tons in this year's first quarter from January to March.

Brazil is the largest exporter of coffee products to South Korea accounting for 20 percent of total imports.
