Gov't Revamps Jobs Policy to Expand Full-Time Workers

The Moon Jae-in administration is revamping its jobs policy to fulfill its goal of transitioning irregular workers into full-time employment status.

Lee Yong-sup, vice chairman of a presidential committee on jobs, told reporters Thursday the administration wants to improve the quality of jobs rather than just increasing job numbers.

He says the government is working to secure supplementary budget funding for job creation in the public sector, while also seeking cooperation from conglomerates and other private sector players.

Business groups have already expressed criticism of the Moon administration's approach, saying it increases the financial burden on firms that hire a large number of irregular workers.
