The Institute for Security and Development Policy is holding a closed-door forum attended by experts and officials from the two Koreas, the U.S. and China.
According to diplomatic sources on Thursday, the Stockholm-based non-profit research and policy organization opened the one-point-five track meeting earlier on Wednesday.
Among those representing South Korea is Shin Bong-kil, a visiting professor at Yonsei University's Graduate School of International Studies. Shin used to work in an advisory group for President Moon Jae-in during his presidential campaign period.
From North Korea, officials from the Foreign Ministry’s Disarmament and Peace Institute are said to be taking part.
Bruce Klingner, a Senior Research Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, was said to be among officials representing the U.S.
Attention is being drawn to whether the two Koreas will hold exploratory talks on the sidelines of the semi-official forum as all official inter-Korean dialogue has been severed.
The forum is the first of its kind to be held since the launch of the new South Korean government.
