Food Prices Drive up Consumer Prices in May

An increase in food prices, such as eggs, chicken, pork, fish and fruits, drove up consumer prices in May.
 
According to Statistics Korea on Thursday, the consumer price index rose two percent on year last month.
 
The index has been rising by around two percent each month since January.
 
Prices of petroleum-related products also rose eight-point-nine percent on year, raising overall consumer prices by zero-point-37 percentage points.
