No. of Electric Cars Registered in S. Korea Tops 13,000

The number of electric cars registered in South Korea has surpassed 13-thousand and around 40 percent of that total were found to be Hyundai Motor Group’s Ioniq model.
 
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association on Monday, the number of electric vehicles registered in the nation stood at 13-thousand-812 as of the end of April.
 
Of that total, roughly 40 percent, or five-thousand-581 units were Ioniqs.
 
The second most registered electric car in the nation was the Kia Soul with two-thousand-575 units followed by the Renault Samsung SM3 with two-thousand-547.
 
Among imported cars, BMW’s i3 was the most popular with 827 units registered. The Nissan Leaf came in second with 232 units registered.
