S. Korea's Annual Consumption of Coffee Stands at 413 Cups per Person

A new report finds that a South Korean adult was found to consume 413 cups of coffee annually and that South Korea's coffee market had expanded a little over nine percent every year since 2014.
 
According to the report released on Wednesday by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea-Agro Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation, the annual consumption of coffee per person among South Koreans aged over 20 stood at 413 as of last year. Since 2012, the figure has seen growth of five-point-two percent on average annually.
 
According to the report, South Korea’s coffee market was worth roughly six-point-four trillion won as of 2016. The number of coffee shops accounted for 62-and-a-half percent of such market in 2016, higher than the nearly 54 percent posted in 2014.
 
Sales of coffee products were estimated to stand at two-point-four trillion won as of 2016. Out of that total, regular coffee, including brewed and filtered coffee, accounted for half while instant mix coffee accounted for nearly 38 percent.
