North Korea is rejecting the UN Security Council’s adoption of a statement condemning its latest ballistic missile test.

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency quoted a Foreign Ministry spokesman Tuesday as saying the launch of a Pukguksong-2 missile was part of a normal process to strengthen the North’s self-defense capabilities.

The spokesman said that the launch was also a necessary step before the North deploys the missiles for combat use.
