S. Korea's Stock Index Posts World's Steepest Growth over Past Month

Driven by foreign buyers, South Korea’s benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) has posted the steepest growth among major stock markets around the world over the past month.

According to the Korea Center for International Finance and the Korea Exchange on Tuesday, the KOSPI’s Friday closing of two-thousand-288-point-48, was seven percent higher than a month earlier, marking the biggest growth among the major advanced and emerging markets around the world during the same period.

France’s main stock index, CAC 40, enjoyed the second highest growth at six-point-four percent, followed by Japan’s Nikkei index at six-point-three percent.

The uptick of the KOSPI was mainly boosted by foreign investors, attracted to undervalued Korean stocks as well as stocks of Korean firms posting improving performances.
