Biz Lobby Group Sends Delegation to US

South Korea's leading business organization said Thursday that it dispatched an economic delegation to the U.S. to attend an investment promotion event.

The Federation of Korean Industries' delegation will take part in the Invest in America Summit opening Thursday in Washington. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event to attract more foreign investment to America.

Some 30 U.S. government officials will also be present at the investment summit including Vice President Mike Pence, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross as well as state governors.

The FKI delegation aims to stress the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement is a necessary trade deal also for the United States.

The delegates also plan to meet with Trump administration officials on the sidelines of the event in efforts to devise response measures to U.S. trade policies.

On Friday, they plan to hold talks with James Golsen, executive director for Asia at the International Trade Administration of the Department of Commerce to better grasp U.S. protectionist measures such as on import regulations, border adjustment tax and renegotiating the FTA.
