Foreign Stock Ownership Hits 10-Year High

Foreign ownership of South Korean stocks hit a ten-year high on the bullish market.

According to the Korea Exchange and the Korea Financial Investment Association, foreign investors held 534 trillion won worth of stocks traded on the main bourse as of Thursday, or 36-point-72 percent of the total market capitalization.

The percentage is the highest level since May 25, 2007, when the figure reached 36-point-73 percent.

The figure has been on the rise since late last year when it marked 35-point-20 percent.

Foreign ownership of South Korean stocks traded on the tech-heavy KOSDAQ market also hit a 15-month high to ten-point-84 percent on Thursday.
