South Korea’s trade surplus with the United States plunged 25 percent in the first quarter from a year ago.
South Korea imported eleven-point-three billion dollars worth of products from the United States during the January-March period, up 15-point-eight percent on-year, while its shipments to the United States came to 17-point-four billion dollars, down two-and-a-half percent on-year.
China ranked first in terms of trade surplus with the United States, posting 78-point-eight billion dollars, followed by Japan, Mexico, Germany, Ireland, Vietnam and Canada. South Korea came in eighth with six-point-one billion U.S. dollars.
Trade surplus figures for China, Japan, Mexico and Canada increased during the cited period, while those of South Korea, Germany, India and Vietnam decreased. South Korea posted the largest drop among top ten countries.
