S. Korea to Hold 'Korea Travel Fair' in Singapore

South Korea will hold a large-scale event in Singapore to attract foreign tourists as the domestic tourism industry is suffering following a sharp decrease in Chinese tourists.

The Korea Tourism Organization(KTO) said on Tuesday that it will hold the Korea Travel Fair 2017 from Thursday to Sunday in Singapore and some 60-thousand local consumers are expected to attend. The state-run tourism agency held a similar event earlier this month in Vietnam.

In Singapore, the number of outbound departures reached nine-point-47 million last year, which is almost twice the population of the country. Singaporeans who traveled overseas spent over 25-hundred U.S. dollars on average last year.

Singaporean tourists to South Korea increased 16-point-three percent during the first three months of the year from a year ago.
