Consumer Sentiment Index Posts Growth for 3rd Month

A new survey finds that South Korea's consumer sentiment is recovering amid growing anticipation about improved economic conditions.

According to the Bank of Korea on Tuesday, the nation’s composite consumer sentiment index(CCSI) for April stood at 101-point-two, up four-and-a-half points from last month.

As a result, the nation’s CCSI posted growth for the third consecutive month and stood at the highest level since last October when the figure stood at 102.

The central bank attributed the strong figure to the decrease in negative views about the economy due to rising exports.

The CCSI is produced by studying six key indices that gauge consumer confidence. A reading above 100 means optimists outnumber pessimists on economic conditions.
