4th Industrial Revolution-Related Jobs to Surge Over 10 Years

A new report has forecast that, over a ten-year period through 2025, prospects look bright for information technology(IT)-related jobs that are leading the fourth Industrial Revolution, as well as jobs in insurance, health care and business consulting.

The projection was made in a job outlook report released by the Korea Employment Information Service on Monday on 195 leading jobs in the nation.

According to the latest report, employment growth is expected in IT jobs in new industries, including the Internet of things, wearable devices, self-driving cars and virtual reality.

Meanwhile, the report predicted that the employment of bank clerks and broker-dealers will decline with the expansion of financial technology, robo-advisers and Internet banks.

The report also forecast that with the expansion of an aging society and of health and welfare support, the employment of doctors, dentists, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, emergency medical technicians, social workers and caregivers will rise.

On the other hand, the report said obstetricians will be hit hard due to low birthrates and radiologists due to active use of big data and artificial intelligence.
