SK Hynix Develops Faster DRAM Chips for Graphic Processors

SK Hynix says it has developed the world's fastest dynamic random access memory(DRAM) chip that can process almost 200 DVD films in one second.

The South Korean company on Sunday announced the development of the 20-nano level eight gigabit chip.

With the data processing capacity of 16 gigabits per second per pin, the memory chip can send graphic data of up to 768 gigabytes per second. That translates to 192 four gigabyte DVDs.

SK hopes that the chips will become integral in industries such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, self-driving cars and high-definition displays.
