Samsung Electronics has regained its position as the world’s largest smartphone producer.
Market analysis agency TrendForce said on Wednesday that Samsung Electronics seized a 26-point-one percent share of the global smartphone market in the first quarter in terms of production, ahead of Apple’s 16-point-nine percent.
Samsung produced around 80-point-14 million smartphones in the January-March period, up by eight-point-four percent from the previous quarter.
TrendForce said the popularity of its low- and mid-end phones boosted Samsung’s smartphone production, while its production in the premium segment is still sluggish due to the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.
Meanwhile, TrendForce forecast the sales of Samsung’s recently-unveiled flagship phone, the Galaxy S8, will be limited given a considerate demand for the iPhone 8 being released later this year.
