BOK Chief Stresses Job Creation as Solution to Sluggish Consumption

Bank of Korea(BOK) Governor Lee Ju-yeol says that the fundamental solution to boosting sluggish domestic consumption is to create jobs and increase income earning opportunities.

Lee made the remarks in a meeting with economic experts on Wednesday morning, assessing the current economic trends and situation at home and abroad.

The BOK chief explained that the South Korean economy has been gradually growing thanks to bullish exports, and business and consumer sentiments appear to be improving.

But he warned against possible unfavorable factors for the nation’s exports such as the global trend of strengthening protectionism.

Lee also stressed the importance of policies to revive dampened domestic consumption.
