The U.S. Trade Representative has positively assessed South Korea's FTA with the United States. 
 
The 2017 National Trade Estimate Report on Foreign Trade Barriers stated the deal has created "substantial" new market opportunities for U.S. exporters since it took effect in 2012.
 
The report said the FTA improved the transparency of Korea's regulations and helped break down non-tariff barriers for cars and other key American exports.  
 
It also praised the FTA for providing “meaningful” market access to virtually all major service sectors.
