Forest Service to Mark 50th Founding Anniversary With Planting Trees

The Korea Forest Service plans to plant 54 million trees in 22-thousand hectares of land across the country as this year marks the 50th anniversary of its founding.

The move is aimed at creating forests that hold economic and environmental value.

The forest agency said that it will carry out the planting work from April fifth Arbor Day throughout the end of April.

The agency will also plant trees appropriate for different regions on 16-thousand hectares of land.

As part of its campaign for people to have their own trees, the agency will give out 810-thousand seedlings of fruit trees and landscaping trees for planting for free at 176 locations nationwide.
