Samsung Unveils Larger Screen S8 Models

Anchor: Samsung has launched its new flagship Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones, ending months of speculation about the models since the fateful Galaxy Note 7. As the South Korean tech giant seeks to redeem itself after the embarrassing recalls of its Note 7s, the new models went through improved safety testing.

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its new flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and the larger Galaxy S8 Plus in unpacking events in New York and London Wednesday.

"That will take you beyond the boundaries of today's experiences and unlock the full potential of your imagination."
 
The Galaxy S8 series come with a five-point-eight-inch or six-point-two-inch screens, which adopted a dual edge display design.

"Some of you might be wondering, 'what happened to the home button?' well, it's still there but to give you more screen, we moved the home button beneath the infinity display." 
 
The handset also features Bixby, a smart voice assistant to rival Apple's Siri. In addition to a fingerprint reader on the back and an iris scanner on the front, Samsung adopted a face scanner for added security.
 
In the aftermath of the massive recalls of fire-prone S7s, Samsung is now emphasizing that it improved safety testing processes for batteries and other parts of its phones.
 
About two thousand reporters and early adopters came to check out the unboxing event in New York.

 "You have a bigger display although the phone is still comfortable to hold. Those are the best features for me."
 
Samsung will begin the sales of the two latest products worldwide on April 21st.
