Incheon-Gangneung Bullet Train Tracks Built for Pyeongchang Games

South Korea has completed laying down railway tracks for a high-speed train that will commute passengers between Incheon International Airport and the country’s eastern cities.

The Korea Rail Network Authority said on Tuesday that the construction of the rail segment between Wonju and Gangneung is done, completing the 277-point-nine kilometer-stretch between Incheon and Gangneung via Pyeongchang.

The bullet train railroad, built to facilitate the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, will be put into service at the end of this year.

With a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour, the train will travel between Incheon International Airport and Gangneung within one hour and 52 minutes. The current train service running between Seoul and Gangneung takes over five hours and 47 minutes.
