North Korea has threatened a preemptive nuclear strike against the United States if it shows signs of a nuclear attack against the North. 

The Korean National Committee for Protection of Peace, the North's external propaganda organ, issued the threat in a statement on Friday. The statement said the United States should consider the catastrophic consequences a reckless preemptive strike would cause and refrain from careless acts.

The statement went on to say that the North Korean military has put in its gun sights U.S. military bases in the Asia-Pacific, the U.S. mainland and South Korea. The propaganda committee added it's closely watching the enemy's moves.
