S. Korea Considers Bringing U.S. Duties to WTO

South Korea is considering whether to file an official complaint with the World Trade Organization(WTO) over the U.S. levying antidumping duties on South Korean products.

According to a government source in Seoul on Wednesday, a legal review is under way at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to see if it is possible to lodge a complaint with the WTO.

The government believes the U.S. has revised related law and arbitrarily imposed antidumping duties on South Korean steel products since May last year.

The U.S. placed a preliminary six-point-82 percent antidumping rate on POSCO's steel plate products last November, and in August, the Korean steelmaker was slapped with a three-point-89 percent antidumping duty and a 57-point-04 percent countervailing duty.
