Gov't Opens Control Tower on THAAD Retaliation to Support Firms

The government has launched a special support team to support firms that sustained losses due to China's retaliatory measures over South Korea's THAAD deployment.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said that from Friday it is operating a special support team related to trade loss with China whether stemming from China's import regulations, corporate sanctions or suspended exchanges.

The support team will look into the damage suffered by South Korean firms through 14 export support centers nationwide and 17 trade centers operating within China. The team will alert related agencies so they can draw up support measures.

A ministry official said the team will serve as a control tower to support Korean firms exporting to China and work to foster a stable environment for companies to continue their business.
