Watchdogs to Strengthen Risk Management after US Rate Hike

Watchdog agencies are closely observing risk factors in the local financial market following the U.S. Federal Reserve’s interest rate hike.

Officials from the Financial Services Commission(FSC) and the Financial Supervisory Service(FSS) held a meeting Thursday to discuss the impact of the U.S. rate increase.

FSC Vice Chairman Jeong Eun-bo stressed at the meeting that the government will more thoroughly manage risk factors, vowing to curb a further rise in household debts.

Jeong also revealed a two-point-two trillion won corporate bond program to protect smaller corporations from higher lending rates.
