Biz Sector Calls for Reviving Economy after Ouster

The business sector said Friday that it gladly accepts the Constitutional Court’s impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye and stressed the need to fill the vacuum in state affairs and revive the economy.

The Korea Employers Federation said in a statement issued shortly after the court verdict that the business circle respects the court’s decision. The federation then expressed hope that all the people will humbly accept the court’s verdict and demonstrate sophisticated aspects of democratic citizens.

The federation called on the government and the political sector to rise above ideologies and political factions and work together to promptly tackle social confusion caused by division in public opinion.

The federation said all economic players, including labor and management, should unite and exert all-out efforts to stabilize people’s livelihood by reviving the economy and creating jobs.

The Korea International Trade Association and the Federation of Korean Industries also made similar calls.

Some in the business sector have voiced concerns over a vacuum in economic policies as political parties launch full-fledged preparations for the upcoming presidential election.
