South Korean and U.S. trade ministers held talks in Washington and agreed to establish a bilateral channel on trade and industrial cooperation.
Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Joo Hyung-hwan met with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross on Wednesday and assessed how the South Korea-U.S. free trade agreement has contributed to expanding trade and investment, serving as the basic frame in the two nations' economic cooperation.
The two sides also agreed to faithfully implement the FTA, expand trade and investment in manufacturing and bolster cooperation in high-tech sectors.
Seoul's trade ministry said the U.S. also positively responded to South Korea's proposal for an "energy dialogue" between the two ministries.
During his U.S. visit, Minister Joo also held talks with U.S. lawmakers and industry, think tank and international organization officials.
