The government will aid South Korean businesses affected by China's economic retaliation.
As Beijing continues its reprisal to Seoul's THAAD decision, the Trade Ministry on Tuesday announced the financial assistance during a meeting with travel, cosmetics and other industry associations and trade agencies.
The ministry said the Small and Medium Business Administration will provide up to one-billion won in long-term emergency loans to companies that suffered losses due to China's protectionist policies.
Vice Trade Minister Woo Tae-hee said Beijing's recent measures do not conform with the spirit of the South Korea-China free trade agreement(FTA).
He said the government will consider resorting to international legal procedures if China is found to violate World Trade Organization and its free trade pact with South Korea.
