Finance Minister Yoo Il-ho has stressed that public agencies that violate their basic social duties could see their assessment ratings and performance-based wage levels downgraded.
Speaking at a workshop on Saturday related to the managerial performance of public firms and semipublic agencies, the minister particularly mentioned violations in minimum wage, discriminatory employment and unfair trade practices.
Unveiling rules on public firms' evaluation for 2017, Yoo said the evaluation this year is the last conducted by the current administration. He said it's all the more significant as it serves as a wrap up to the government's public sector reform carried out to date.
Officials taking part in the workshop will evaluate 119 public firms through next month, through written and onsite inspections. The evaluation process will conclude with the approval by a related operating committee in June.
